Feel Better When You Get Moving

By Chet Sandeksi

Those that love the outdoors are quickly running out of time to enjoy those beautiful mountains. Summer has come and gone in the blink of an eye, leaving only a few months for fall and then the quick approach of wintery cold in December.

When mental and physical health is in good form you are more likely to prevent the need for medical interventions. When your health is not a priority, it could lead to an operating room with a patient return electrode, cautery pencil, and smoke evaluation machine. Here are some ways that working out benefits your mental health.

Try to stretch out your body once or twice every day to maintain that much needed flexibility. It won't save you from every injury, but it'll help you avoid a lot of them.

First, hike with a group as often as possible. There's safety in numbers

Even, just taking your mind of whatever is causing stress can put things into perspective and allow you to return to the problem with an open mind and proper perspective.

You build this muscle by participating in a full range of exercises. A full range constitutes working out all of the muscles in the body over the span of a week.

As a group though, camps can more easily defend themselves against predators and raise a voice of warning when things get too dangerous. There's a symbiotic relationship there that is beneficial to all who choose to associate in that society.

Third, exercise can improve your self-confidence. You don't have to look like a model to feel better about yourself when exercising.

It doesn't matter so much where you do the muscle strengthening. It mostly matters that you balance it out to avoid injuries that could require electro surgery.

The same principle applies to those going on a hike. Individuals hiking alone are far more likely to miss spotting a dangerous situation and have no help readily available to them if they should run into trouble.

Plus doing physical activity outside enables you to get vitamin D from the sun. Vitamin D can reduce symptoms of depression.

Your body can only take so much before it has to rest. It'll tell you it's done with pain.

Whether the person needs electrosurgical attention or a Band-Aid, it's always easier in a group. So invite a friend or two to come along with you. Second is to tell others where you're going. If you're going alone or with a group, tell someone close to you (a roommate, family member, or close friend) where you're going and when you expect to be back.

Seventh, working out can improve your brain's abilities. Studies have demonstrated that cardiovascular exercise, like running, walking or cycling, can create new brain cells and improve the brain's performance. Tough workouts can help decision making abilities, higher thinking, and learning.

When you work out consistently, be sure to replace the fats, calories, energy, and other nutrients that you need to build up your muscles so they can be ready for a harder task the next time.

This is a tragedy that can usually be avoided, if these tips were followed. Remember to consider how each of these tips can be addressed before every hike.
