Removing Dental Stains Without A Dentist

By Harry Izzo

Do you hide your smile even after a hearing a good joke? If you find yourself covering your mouth at these times then stained teeth might be an issue for you. A dentist can remove stains in a few minutes. They are equipped with the latest technologies to make this problem go away. If time is not an issue for you, then home remedies can certainly do the job.

Stains on your teeth are a sign that you either smoke a lot or you are not cleaning your teeth as well as you should. Or it's a combination of the two. If you brush your teeth at a minimum of twice a day you still can have smoking stains. Look at smoking as something you should treat, exactly like when you've had a meal. Soon after you put out your cigarette you showed brush your teeth. If this is not possible for you, then at least rinse them out with some water.

Eating fruit is good for smokers. Citrus fruit, especially, stimulates saliva production and saliva helps wash away this staining. You can ward off smoking stains by eating oranges and lemons whenever possible. So be sure to have a lot of them on hand. Citrus fruit is loaded with the vitamin C needed to prevent gingivitis.

Strawberries and apples also are invaluable. Biting down into an apple keeps the surface of your teeth looking white. Strawberries also can be helpful if you munch them into paste and brush your teeth with them. Afterwards be sure to use real toothpaste to finish the job.

Hydrogen peroxide and baking soda together make a very strong homemade paste to brush your teeth with. Baking soda is basically tiny abrasive grains that are a good option to the toothpaste we use every day. These little grains scrub the surface enamel of your teeth and stop their staining. Make sure that you do not brush too vigorously otherwise you will harm this surface enamel.

Dairy products are loaded with nutrients. They are a good source of calcium which helps strengthen bones. Teeth are bones and are strengthened internally by what we eat. Milk and other products such as cheese help rid your mouth of smoke stains.

All of the above are useful home remedies. They are especially useful for chain smokers. No doubt the best advice is to stop your smoking altogether. This will keep you living longer, while having a nice white smile at the same time.
