How To Qualify As A Bay Area Plastic Surgeon

Plastic surgery is a medical specialty that deals with the correction or restoration of the form and function of the human body. It is sometimes known as cosmetic or aesthetic surgery, and includes different types of reconstructive or micro surgeries, as well as the treatment of burns. The Greek term for it basically means remodeling or sculpting. A bay area plastic surgeon must spend many years learning and training before they become fully certified.

These professionals must be very driven and focused in order to get through the many years of schooling that is required. They will also have to be prepared to work long hours. A surgeon is a licensed medical doctor trained in trauma care and basic surgery techniques. They can also specialize in certain areas such as laser surgery and body contouring.

It is estimated that the demand for these medical professionals will grow in the coming years as the U. S. Population grows. According to the U. S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, physicians and surgeons can expect a job growth rate of 24% between now and the year 2020. The average plastic surgeons earned over $230,540 in 2012.

The route to qualifying in this field can be a long and difficult one. You must complete a lot of vocational training and educational requirements, starting with your bachelors degree in a pre-medical subject, like biology or chemistry. You must then enroll in medical school.

Reconstructive surgery is used to correct certain functional impairments caused by burns traumatic injuries or burns such as bone fractures, congenital abnormalities or infections and diseases. The most common procedures of this type are removing tumors, sealing lacerations and repairing scars. It also includes hand surgery and breast reduction procedures. Some women use this surgery to reconstruct their breasts after a mastectomy.

Many women choose to get Botox treatments because they are unhappy with their physical appearance. By using surgical applications of these injections, which consist of small doses of the toxin, it is possible to prevent wrinkles from appearing by paralyzing the facial muscles of the patient. Botox should only be administered by a properly certified plastic surgeon.

Cosmetic surgery is another type of surgery performed by plastic surgeons. It is an optional procedure performed on parts of the body which are normal with the purpose of improving the appearance of the person or removing signs of aging, such as wrinkles. Millions of cosmetic surgery procedures are performed in the United States every year.

If you want to enter this field, make sure you spend plenty of time researching the courses and programs you will have to complete. Also check into the relevant certifications for this profession. Most of these surgeons receive their certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery as well as state certifications.
