Oxidative Stress & The Impact Of Extra Virgin Olive Oil

By Katie Arden

When there is a certain level of imbalance between the oxidant and antioxidant systems within the body, it is defined as oxidative stress. This type of stress can lead to certain problems down the road, including the increased risk of such conditions as cancer in addition to cardiovascular issues. With that said, though, you may be curious as to which methods can be put to use for the sake of lowering oxidative stress. One of them is easily the intake of extra virgin olive oil.

When there are multiple free radicals in the body and the body in question cannot actively work to detoxify them, oxidative stress rises to the surface. As a result, certain products can be taken in and prove useful, provided there are enough antioxidants associated with them. This is one of the reasons why so many people rely on green tea. It is not only tasty, for them, but it has many antioxidants that the body can properly utilize in order to better strength immune systems across the board.

Fruit is another category to take into account; in particular, you are going to want to look into berries. I am of the opinion that blueberries are amongst the most healthful but you may be able to attain similar results if you go with others like blackberries. Of course, you are going to want to be mindful of the market that you purchase these from, not only because of freshness but organic quality as well. To put it in simplest terms, berries are recommended for the purpose of attaining antioxidants.

Another useful food item, in my view, has got to be extra virgin olive oil and there are many reasons for this. While the oil in question has antioxidants as well, authorities on the matter like Bellucci Premium can tell you that there is far more to consider with this product. It also contains monounsaturated fats, which are ones that the body can take in without much effort. After all, they are meant to help the body, though the amount of fats consumed has to be maintained.

Regardless of whether you're a fan of green tea, extra virgin olive oil, or what have you, there are certain foods which can help to keep oxidative stress at lower levels. They have antioxidants, to put it simply, and are recommended for this reason along. There are other aspects to consider, though, like the monounsaturated fat content that is associated with the oil in question. Keep these foods in mind if you are concerned about the idea of oxidative stress and how it may impact you.
